Week 3: The Itch That Must Not Be Scratched
By the third week, your tattoo will have mostly stopped flaking. However, a new challenge arises: the itch. Oh, the itch! By now, most of the flaking and itching should have subsided. Your tattoo is settling in, making itself at home in your skin like a comfortable houseguest who’s decided to stay permanently.
Tips for a Smooth Healing Process
1. Keep it clean: Wash your tattoo with unscented soap and lukewarm water. Avoid scrubbing it like Lady Macbeth trying to remove that pesky spot.
2. Moisturize: Keep your tattoo well-hydrated, but don’t drown it. It’s not a fish.
3. Avoid sun exposure: Treat your healing tattoo like a vampire – keep it out of direct sunlight.
4. No swimming: For at least 2-4 weeks, avoid submerging your tattoo in water. This includes pools, hot tubs, and that impulsive decision to become a mer-person.
5. Wear loose clothing: Give your tattoo room to breathe. Tight clothes can stick to the healing skin and cause irritation.
6. Be patient: Healing takes time. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was your tattoo’s final form.
